Home to the original Oktoberfest in 1834 (the festival for which Oktoberfest is based took place in 1810), Munich's event now draws roughly 6.5 million visitors annually. There are 14 main tents, sponsored by local breweries, that serve food and provide entertainment for 70,000 inside and 27,000 outside, cumulatively.
